How many decisions do you think you have you made today? 200? Nah, we can make that many on food choices alone. (My husband can attest to this). Estimates put the amount of decisions an adult makes at around 35,000. A DAY. A lot of those decisions are insignificant, but your brain notices every single one. And it is getting tired. These days, your organization’s website is typically the first impression people have of your nonprofit. An admirable mission alone is not enough to drive donor engagement and retention.
Have you heard of the 40-40-20 rule? It has HUGE implications for your fundraising success. For years, direct mail marketers and advertisers have followed this cardinal rule. The "40-40-20 rule" states that the success of any campaign ultimately depends on these three factors: 40% on the audience (for you, that's your mailing list). 40% on the "offer" you present to that audience. 20% on the "creative" (the presentation, design, etc.).

With the advent of social media, it seems like you constantly hear cries of “Email is dead!” That isn’t exactly true based on a recent survey of small to medium business by SharpSpring and Ascend2. In that survey, most participants said email was the best way to get their communications out with 77% saying email was the most effective channel to drive marketing content to prospects.
